I made a green bean casserole for Thanksgiving that was a big hit and thought I would share the recipe. It's a little different that the one on the french fried onion can.

5 cans of green beans, drained
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
1 large onion, diced
1 lb. of bacon
1 lg. can french fried onions
Pepper to taste, but do not add salt. The bacon and soup make it salty enough.

Cut bacon into 1" pieces and saute, add onions to bacon and saute. Put drained green beans into large baking pan, add cream of mushroom soup, stir. Add sauteed onions and bacon with the bacon grease to the green beans and mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Put fried onions on top during the last 10 minutes of baking, careful they will burn

That is a classic, easy holiday recipe.
But don't you wonder why we never have it any other time?

I never really thought about it but it is a great side dish.
