Happy July 4th everyone. Can't wait to sink my teeth into the grilled burgers, ribs, brisket, sausage, and chicken, and all the fixings and desserts. Now if only the rain will stop for one day. Enjoy everyone.

Also would like to wish everyone a happy 4th. We will be doing BBQ come rain or sunshine. It's tradition.

Yep,.. putting a fire to the charcoals is gonna happen here also, along with the fireworks

I'll get some fresh ground beef for the melt in your mouth burgers, some Double D sausage, some yardbird, and some Wild Turkey, but I will start on Friday and go thru Sunday.

I love sausage, but I have never seen Double D Sausage. Is that a local brand?

I love sausage, but I have never seen Double D Sausage. Is that a local brand?

I'm near Pear River, north of Slidell, and I get it at Jubilee, Rouses, and Winn Dixie and many smaller grocers.

They sell a variety of types (ex. Hot, Cajun mild, ect). I dont know if they sell in New Orleans or Baton Rouge areas. It is made in Bogalusa.

I find the Cajun mild is the better one, it's nicely seasoned, and it has a white paper label, the other varieties have a foil type label.

There is another sausage that is good if you like hot sausage, it is "Patten's (sp.)". it's usually in the freezer section, it comes in Tubs and they sell it as "patty's" or "Links". The links make for a great po-boy sandwich.

The differences between Double D and Pattens is that Patten's comes in "Hot" only, the meat is a finer grind and is wrapped in a natural skin. Patten's is made in Bogalusa too. Double D is a traditional sausage with a artificial skin.
