In search of that most perfect of inventions, the cheeseburger.

New Orleans, LA

What is it about a night of excess that makes one crave a cheeseburger? On a recent birthday bash in New Orleans, around midnight the thought spread through the group by telepathy. We must eat at Port of Call for lunch tomorrow!!!! It was decided, which in and of itself is no small feat. Getting a tipsy group of eight to agree on anything is amazing but we were actually making plans for the next day! This speaks to the power of The Port of Call.

tiger_eyes_rounded.gifDaaaa da daaa da!!! It’s that time of year again.  Tiger flags are fluttering and even cell phones ring with those familiar notes that stir the blood of LSU fans everywhere. Or should you spread your paper as a small tablecloth and bravely bare hand that stack of meaty goodness, mopping the juices from your hands and forearms as you chew?

Allons ‘a Lafayette.
Part 1 Of Our Touring Acadiana Series.

The Blue Dog Café.

Driving west on Interstate 10 toward Lafayette, LA, I figured the Blue Dog Café had a 50-50 chance of being good. Who does't love the art of George Rodrigue? I’d heard the walls were covered with originals and prints. Blue dogs everywhere, they said. I wondered how this establishment came to be named after his work. And would the place be about the Blue Dogs or would it be about the food?
